our story
Jordan Bikes opened its doors to the public on January 17th 2003, and has grown into one of the most prominent motorcycle dealers in the north of England. The idea of this business was first discussed between Nick Jordan, the owner, and his boss at the time, Larry Courtliff, who was with Jordan Bikes for the first 4 years but has now left for pastures new. Nick and Larry were working for Motorcycle City at the time, which was taken over by Carnells, and renamed Riossi. The business was then bought by Dixon Motors, who had no previous experience of the motorcycle trade, and it's fair to say did a bad job of running it.
Dixon Motors lasted just 2 more years before going bankrupt, but by then Larry and Nick were long gone. Larry and Nick could see a better way of doing things, and so over a pint in the autumn of 2002, decided to do the job on their own, and the rest is history. Many long days and nights of hard work went into making the store what it was on the opening day, as the warehouse was a roofless, flooded mess when the guys first got the keys.
Still with the company since day one are Nick Jordan, owner, and John Dickinson, motorcycle salesman. Jordan Bikes retail around 500 bikes per year, and service, tune and MOT many thousands each year. In 2008 Jordan Bikes was nominated the best non-franchised dealer in the north in the famous RIDE Power Survey, beating many long-established dealers.
The company goes from strength to strength, and has recently taken on more staff to deal with the ever growing business.
our mission
We are very aware that there are many other bike dealers competing for the customers out there, and so we value every single customer that we have, new or old. I think the one thing that sets us apart from other dealers is that all our staff are bikers, with a good attitude to life. No-one who works here is a grumpy sod, though I've worked at plenty of places that are bogged down by miserable, set-in-their-ways staff, and so I was determined from the beginning to choose our staff very carefully. Every one of us comes to work and enjoys being here, and to be able to enjoy the job you do, and pay your mortgage whilst doing it, is priceless.
The jolly atmosphere in the store is genuine, and many of our customers spend time outside work with us too. It's a genuine pleasure to own an adult toy store, and to make people as happy as we do.
I've been asked to give a mission statement for this part of the website, and I've had to think hard, as unlike most American companies, we don't have one. All the staff here have the same general ideas, which are to do a great job so that we make our customers happy, and have fun doing it, but that's a bit vague really, and so I've come up with this:
We aim to make every customer happy enough to want to come back to us, so that we have a business tomorrow as well as today, we aim to laugh out loud every day, and may all our competitors perish so that we can have all their customers too.
Will that do? - Nick Jordan
